Week 31

 

Good Morning and Happy Monday Team!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend and were able to enjoy the sunshine!  I can't believe that we are anticipating a snow storm this week...NOOOOOO!  Hopefully, it will be the last of the snow and cold weather and we can truly embrace April Showers and May Flowers!!

 Learning Model Update

Our Board held an emergency meeting today to confirm the return to in person learning plan that the committee came up with. Special thanks to Bynum, Campbell, & Hardy for representing our staff and helping to create a really solid plan that was approved by the board today. The plan is as follows:

• The deadline to reopen for this school year is April 26th. We will not open to in person instruction past that date if cases do drop before the end of the year.
• For Summer School & the 2021-2022 School Year- Laurus will remain virtual until positive cases are below 7% for 14 days  in Wayne, Oakland, & Macomb counties and below 20 cases per day for that same time period in those same counties- with Wayne always being the primary county of concern. 

Testing 

 A letter will go home to parents via school reach and surveys for each grade level will be going out as well.  As we begin to send out more information to parents and get a better idea of how many students will be coming in, I'll let you know about testing set up. Just know it is the expectation that you come in the building on your grade level's testing day.

Upcoming Trainings:

April 22nd - Lexia Training (ELA) - 2:00-3:30.  Please plan for students to have asynchronous learning activities.  More information will be coming.  Special Ed, Reading Specialist, Intervention...please plan to attend this training.

May 12th - Dream Box Training (Math) - 3:45-4:45.  Special Ed and Intervention...please plan to attend this training.

Spring Learning OnCourse Trainings - There will be several specific Spring Learning OnCourse Trainings that will be coming up.  Special Education teachers will be joining their Grade Level Wings for their ELA and Math Trainings; there will be trainings for Specials teachers (with me) and Intervention (with me).  More information to come...

Spring Employee Engagement Survey 

The survey opens up on Monday, April 19th. Brian Britton sent an email Friday with information about the survey along with the questions that will be on there, Please make sure you read the email and complete the survey when it opens.
